Back in th 80's when Transformers was fast
gaining popularity and Hasbro was running out of Takara molds to use,
they obtained licences to use the molds of other companies' robot toys.
From the anime Special Armored Battalion Dorvack (特装機兵ドルバック) two of their mechas were used for G1 Deluxe Autobots - VH-64 MR Oberon Gazzette for G1 Whirl, and VV-54 AR Mugen Calibur for G1 Roadbuster.
This toy here is not the vintage Mugen Calibur or G1 Roadbuster. It is from CM's Corporation Brave Gohkin line. (The Autobot symbol is a reprolabel.) This version has more weapons, accessories and improved articulation compared to the vintages. It even has die-cast. So can be considered an unofficial Masterpiece? :)
Mugen Calibur can be equipped with this power-up armor pack to become Combat Calibur! Yes, Autobot reprolabel added by me!

G1 Deluxe Autobots. Anime fans will know G1 Jetfire's mold is taken from another popular mecha anime - VF-1S Valkyrie from Super Dimension Fortress Macross
