During our recent holiday in Tokyo, wife and I visited the 1:1 scale RX-78-2 Gundam in Odaiba. (OK, it was more like me who wanted to go!) It is located in front of the new DiverCity Tokyo Plaza shopping mall.
For a Gundam fan, it is impressive to see this lifesize mobile suit and wonder if one day there will be an operational one.
Chibi 'mobile suits' at the base.
Back views of the Gundam. You can see the details of the jet pack.
At night, the eyeports light up. Other lights (do you call them formation lights??) also turn on and some even blink. Really cool to watch!
I have stopped buying new Gundam toys for a few years already due to lack of display space. But this visit rekindled my interest somewhat. I ended up buying two Real Grade (RG) kits from a Toys R Us Japan store. Let's see if I have time to fix them up.
Bonus pic: Miku photo trolling!
